This is one of the fundamental reasons for creating the Institute for Clinical Engineering and Health Technology Excellence.
The Institute provides the Global Clinical Engineering Alliance (GCEA) with an operational platform through which ideas, expertise, and international collaboration can be transformed into programmes that create measurable value.
The Institute can establish international accreditation and peer-review programmes for clinical engineering services, helping hospitals and healthcare organizations determine whether their clinical engineering programmes meet recognized expectations for competence, safety, quality, governance, and performance.
It can develop professional education, competency development, and certification programmes to better prepare clinical engineers for the responsibilities associated with emerging healthcare technologies.
It can also establish think-tank and advisory capabilities, bringing clinical engineers together with healthcare leaders, industry, academia, universities, government regulators, and other stakeholders to address complex technology-related healthcare challenges.
Through these activities, our profession can move beyond being consulted after technology decisions have been made and become an active participant when policies, strategies, and safeguards are being developed.
